Years ago, I had thought that nourishing the scalp with oils like Amla oil, Olive oil, Argan oil, Coconut oil would be a great idea, but years of experimenting with oils had me skeptical about its effectiveness.
Was it doing more harm than good? here is my analysis:
Any product that leaves the scalp oily for a long period of time will eventually clog the pores, accumulate dirt and make the environment on the scalp grimy.
The oil residue if left sitting on the scalp unwashed could pose hygiene issues - this can be visibly observed and felt when you start to have bumps, scabs, and flakes starting to appear on the scalp.
Nature always gives you signs and signals to hint at you to warn you something isn't right. So be observant: A healthy scalp is free of scabs, flakes, discharges.
Over the years, I have made observations and discover that the best tonics for the scalp will not make the scalp oily, but will be absorbed easily, highly soluble, and does not leave residue on the skin. Which means, it must feel like you hadn't applied anything at all.
So, try out the hair care serums, tonics, hair water out there. If it leaves your scalp feeling natural, then you should be right!
